Chianti is one of Australia’s oldest Italian restaurants, celebrating its 34th year in 2019. Chianti’s influence originally stemmed from the Favaro family’s Northern Italian heritage.

From humble beginnings in 1985, Chianti is celebrating its 36th year this year. Many of our customers have travelled that journey with us and we celebrate their loyalty and friendship, as much as we enjoy welcoming new customers and travellers on a daily basis.

​Centrally located on Hutt Street (in the Adelaide CBD) Chianti is at the most a 10 minute taxi ride from any of Adelaide’s international hotels and we provide our patrons an elegant dining experience in the friendly warmth of a classic Italian family trattoria.

​Chianti offers a ground floor restaurant, all-weather al fresco dining and two private upstairs dining rooms, ideal for intimate celebrations, cocktail parties, corporate functions and events.

​Our menus, which change several times a year, are focused on seasonal and local and interpreted with precisely the same enthusiasm a new season brings in regional Italy.

​Our wine list is sourced from the old and new world and Chianti has an incredible reserve list that features some of the world’s greatest wines.

​As one of the first restaurants in South Australia to be awarded the Ospitalità Italiana accreditation, presented by the Italian Government and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Australia, we are committed to delivering an authentic Italian dining experience and recreating a little piece of Italy in Adelaide.

Whilst Chianti is a restaurant that celebrates the history of Italian cooking with many time-honoured dishes, and the menu and food are driven by the true Italian tradition of local and seasonal, modern Italian food equally has a respected place. The association with specialist growers and producers is obvious in all they create.
